The Health Care Counselor is responsible for developing and maintaining maximum census in Continuing Care by selling to prospective external and current internal residents. The Health Care Counselor interfaces with residents, family members, department managers, nursing staff, resident services, social workers, accounting, medical staff, and sales while maintaining all confidential information regarding the residents.

How you will make an impact:

  • Uses independent judgment to design, plan and facilitate variously structured, guided, and impromptu programs for individuals and groups in the common areas and resident rooms of the Continuing Care Community.
  • Escorts and ensures the safety of the residents on group trips and excursions.
  • Works collaboratively with other team members, management, community groups, volunteers, and families to deliver programs and activities designed to enhance the resident experience.
  • Assesses changes in the resident’s needs, abilities, and preferences to provide programs and activities that are beneficial, purposeful, and enjoyable for individuals and group audiences.
  • Implements, supervises or leads the group and individual activities both structured, guided and impromptu in activity spaces, common areas, and in resident’s rooms.
  • A flexible work schedule including weekends and evenings as determined by the Programming Manager is required.

What you will need:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience as an Activities Staff with supervisory experience or 3 years as a Programming Assistant is required.
  • Experience leading groups of people with varying levels of physical and cognitive independence, and experience with the elderly is required.
  • Flexible work schedule including weekends and evenings is required.
  • Certified or eligible for certification (AAC or CTRS – four year degree) preferred.
