Join our team as an Activity Planning and Facilitation Coordinator (Intermissions Program Coordinator) to plan, develop and manage the overall operation of the Intermissions community-based social activity programs.

Programming is designed to meet the needs of residents by providing stimulating physical, cognitive, socio-emotional, creative and spiritual activities. The position requires a functional knowledge of dementia and an understanding of the psychosocial and behavioral challenges faced by individuals with dementia and their family members.

How you will make an impact

  • Provides a person-centered, strengths-based environment that promotes and supports an active, healthy, and independent lifestyle in accordance with the needs of each individual resident.
  • Participates in budget planning process; identifies and justifies payroll and other department expenditures; and submits data to supervisor for review, recommendation and approval.
  • Partnering with Resident Life and Health Services to facilitate the effective delivery of service to participants and assessment of program outcomes
  • Interviews, hires, supervises and evaluates Intermissions Associates (s).
  • Managing the internal marketing of the Intermissions Program to residents, families, and staff
  • Coordinating acceptance of participants into the program and discontinuation of services as needed.
  • Facilitating the exchange of information with residents’ families, caregivers, staff, and support systems
  • Educating staff and volunteers regarding residents’ abilities, preferences, and program interventions
  • Scheduling and documenting in-service programs for staff and volunteers

What you will need

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a geriatric setting required
  • Creative & Expressive Arts background (art, dance movement, music, drama, poetry) is preferred
  • Experience with the elderly, and demonstrated understanding of the dementia process and its impact on a person’s ability to benefit from social activity-based programming
