The Senior Accountant – Technical role supports technical accounting and financial reporting across a complex multi-entity structure that includes wholly owned entities, joint ventures with majority and minority interests, and not-for-profit communities. In partnership with the Director of Technical Accounting, this individual will research and document accounting conclusions for complex and non-routine transactions, prepare supporting analyses, and contribute to external financial reporting and audit-related deliverables. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, analytical capabilities, and exceptional oral and written communication skills.


Responsibilities:

  • Research, analyze, and prepare technical accounting memoranda for complex and non-routine transactions, including consolidation and deconsolidation (ASC 810), business combinations and common-control transactions (ASC 805), revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), and related-party arrangements (ASC 850).
  • Evaluate contracts and legal agreements, including leases, management agreements, loan documents, and joint venture operating agreements, and identify accounting implications and key reporting considerations.
  • Develop accounting position analyses, supporting schedules, materiality assessments, and error evaluations.
  • Prepare consolidation analyses, elimination entries, noncontrolling interest calculations, equity method accounting schedules, and consolidated cash flow reporting.
  • Draft annual and interim financial statements, footnote disclosures, and other financial reporting deliverables.
  • Coordinate external audit requests and serve as a primary preparer of audit support schedules and accounting documentation.
  • Support acquisitions, dispositions, financings, restructurings, and new venture activity through accounting research and transaction analysis.
  • Identify and document internal control considerations arising from complex transactions and accounting conclusions.
  • Assist with entity-level and regulatory reporting requirements, including state continuing care filings.

Compensation:  $95,000 – 105,000 per year plus eligibility for annual bonus. 

What you will need:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience, including Big 4 public accounting and/or technical accounting and financial reporting roles
  • Licensed CPA or a CPA candidate
  • Demonstrated experience drafting technical accounting memoranda with authoritative accounting literature
  • Experience researching and applying US GAAP using authoritative accounting literature and common search platforms (e.g. Deloitte Roadmap, PwC Viewpoint, EY FRD, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of ASC 606, 810, 842, 805, and 850
  • Ability to independently manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines with limited supervision
  • Consolidation experience in a multi-entity environment with majority and minority interests; joint venture experience strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting external audits; senior living, healthcare, real estate, or hospitality experience preferred
  • Advanced Excel; experience with large ERP and consolidation systems
